Kyle Gibson led the AL with a 1.36 ERA in May while going 3-1. He faces a Brewers team that has underachieved this season and is missing Ryan Braun, who is having right thumb problems.

UPDATES

Molitor said there was nothing meaningful about managing against the Brewers, where he broke in as a player and rocketed to stardom.
He understands the history involved and did mention a couple things that stand out to him but, in the end, it was about trying to win a game.
``It rekindles a fairly large chapter of my life there, wearing that uniform," he said. ``But I remember as a player coming up here to play the Twins and visa versa just the amount of people that would travel to watch the rivalry.
``With the interleague being fairly long in tenure it might not have quite the same magic but I'm sure we will see a lot of Brewers fans out there tonight and visa versa when we go down to Milwaukee."
Molitor said he once thought he could return to the Brewers as a coach or manager, but the more time he spent in player development with the Twins, the less likely that became.

One person Molitor was looking forward to talking to was new Brewers manger Craig Counsell. Counsell's father, John, worked in community relations for the Brewers and Molitor remembers a young Counsell in the clubhouse.

Shot for Nolasco?

The Twins are considering giving Ricky Nolasco a cortisone shot to treat a right ankle impingement that continues to bother him
``The opinion is that it is related to an old injury that somehow has become recently inflamed." Molitor said.
Molitor then was asked how many injections did he receive during his playing career.
``I think I had over 100," he said. ``They don't work as well after about 80."

Etc.

J.R. Graham, tomorrow's starter, has thrown around 60 pitches in each of his last two outings, so he should be able to get to around 70 if he's effective.

The Twins are the only team Kyle Lohse has beaten in his career.

Danny Santana was benched for a second straight day as he's in a 1-for-16 skid that has pulled his average down to .221. The Twins are worried about him losing confidence, and Molitor hoped to talk to him something before today's game.

FanGraphs and ESPN view the Twins roster as one that is flawed, but currently projected to win around 80 games.
