Loons have chance for revenge

Preview: United has the rare chance for an immediate rematch with Sporting Kansas City, albeit in a different competition. After an awful 3-0 loss at Children's Mercy Park on June 3, the Loons are back there again in the U.S. Open Cup, a competition that pits all levels of soccer in the U.S. against each other. While United is 4-8-2 and Kansas City is 7-4-5 in the league, this is both teams' first match in the Open Cup's fourth round.

History: Kansas City has had success against United in the tournament, winning 2-0 in 2014 and 2-1 in extra time in 2016. And this season, the teams already have met twice in league play, with United winning the first contest 2-0.

Absences: For Kansas City, D Erik Palmer-Brown (thigh), F Latif Blessing (hip) are questionable while D Tyler Pasher and F Soony Saad are on national team duty. For United, M Bernardo Anor (leg), D Thomas de Villardi (Achilles), D Vadim Demidov (knee) are out while D Francisco Calvo, M Johan Venegas, M Kevin Molino, D Jermaine Taylor are on national team duty.
