united fc gameday

What: 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Fort Lauderdale. Live broadcast available online at MNUnitedFC.com.

Preview: Minnesota (0-1-0) split the spring season series with Fort Lauderdale. Each team earned a 2-1 victory at home. They finished at the bottom of the North American Soccer League but took action. Players on loan from Major League Soccer teams joined both during the monthlong hiatus to help improve performance.

United FC at a glance: New uniforms, new players and a new energy were overshadowed by the same old mistakes in United's fall season opener last week. Atlanta scored shortly after a corner kick as five members of Minnesota's disorganized defense became spectators. Forward Mike Ambersley, acquired in the trade for Etienne Barbara, will be with the team in Florida and could see action.

Fort Lauderdale at a glance: The Strikers opened the fall season in the most challenging of environments — on the road at New York, where a sellout crowd of almost 12,000 fans welcomed back the second incarnation of the Cosmos — the eighth NASL team. The Strikers (0-1-0) battled, tying the game in the 73rd minute before allowing a goal in stoppage time to lose 2-1. Fort Lauderdale ended the spring season with the fewest victories (two) and worst goal differential (minus 14) in the NASL.
