A benefit fund has been created for Wade Souster, the 31-year-old man who was found unconscious in a St. Paul intersection last week.

Souster was discovered near Phalen Boulevard and Atlantic Street about 4 a.m. on Oct. 3 by a passerby. Police said it's unclear how long he was lying in the median but that he could have been there overnight. His family said it wasn't unusual for Souster to take late night walks in the area.

Earlier this week, Souster's family said it had been difficult to get a benefit fund set up for Souster because the government shutdown had prevented the family from obtaining a tax identification number from the Internal Revenue Service, which is needed in order to set up a benefit account in his name at a bank.

A fund was created in Souster's name through the St. Paul Federal Credit Union. Individuals may donate to the "Wade Souter Benefit Fund" by cash or check. Donations will be accepted in-person at all St. Paul Federal Credit Union branches or can be mailed to The Wade Souster Benefit Fund, St. Paul Federal Credit Union, 1330 Conway Street, Suite 200, St. Paul, MN 55106.

Anyone with information about what happened to Souster can call police at 651-266-5722.
