Confession is good for the soul, isn't it? David Mamet's wicked little one-act finds a louse begging for a second chance — forgiveness — from none other than the Prince of Darkness. Bobby Gould has found himself in Hell, an occasion he thinks is undeserved. Satan, a wronged woman and Bobby's own conscience shake the scales from his eyes and he comes to understand his sin. Edwin Strout devours the sulfurous contours of Lucifer with a studied energy and salivating chops. Michael Lee is the rather colorless title character and Jen Maren makes a fierce appearance as the woman who threatens not only Bobby's future but has the "S" man begging for mercy.
