"Crusoe": Any indication of what this update of Daniel Defoe's classic will look like must be buried somewhere on a desert island; no preview was available. The murkiness is compounded by the fact that it's being shot in South Africa. But expect savage cannibals, swashbuckling pirates, evil aristocrats and absolutely no mysterious hatches. (7 p.m. Oct. 17, KARE, Ch. 11.)

"The Ghost Whisperer": Pounds aren't the only things Jennifer Love Hewitt is losing. Jay Mohr is out as the fourth season gets underway, and there's a rumor that David Conrad, who plays her hubby, isn't long for this world. In the addition category, Jamie Kennedy joins the cast as a psychology student who can hear, but can't see, ghosts. (7 p.m. Oct. 3, WCCO, Ch. 4.)

"Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Game": If network TV can support only two black sitcoms, thank goodness it's these two and not, say, "Martin" and "Homeboys From Outer Space." "The Game" has proven to be a worthy substitute for the woefully underrated "Girlfriends," while "Chris" should continue to provide some of the week's biggest laughs as the title character (Tyler James Williams) moves into the perilous world of high school. (7 & 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3, WUCW, Ch. 23.)

"Supernanny": Jo Frost continues to prove that rambunctious kids are no match for tough love and a camera crew. Among her clients this season: an NBA player. Now if only she could make some time for Lynette's hooligans on "Desperate Housewives." (8 p.m. Oct. 3, KSTP, Ch. 5.)
