Trent Frederic scored two goals, including the winner in the middle of the third period, as No. 20 Wisconsin beat visiting Michigan 5-2 on Friday night to stay three points behind first-place Minnesota in the Big Ten race.

Frederic's goal broke a 2-2 tie. Teammates Jarod Zirbel and Seamus Malone added goals in the final three minutes.

Ohio State 3, Michigan State 2: John Wiitala's goal at 1:44 of the second period broke a tie as the No. 14 Buckeyes edged the host Spartans. The other four goals were all scored in the final 10 minutes of the opening period.

Minnesota Duluth 2, Colorado College 1: Adam Johnson's power-play goal with 4:44 to play enabled the No. 1 Bulldogs to edge the host Tigers. Blake Young scored in the first for UMD and Hunter Miska made 20 saves.

Western Michigan 4, North Dakota 2: Sheldon Dries and Colt Conrad each scored in the last seven minutes as the No. 8 Broncos beat the N. 13 Fighting Hawks in Kalamazoo, Mich. Dries broke a 2-2 tie at 6:34 of the third period. Conrad's goal was an empty-netter with 1:30 to play. Rhett Gardner scored shorthanded in the first period for the No. 13 Fighting Hawks and Cole Smith at even-strength in the third. Cam Johnson stopped 37 shots for UND.

Minnesota State Mankato 5, Northern Michigan 3: Five different players scored as the host Mavericks beat the Wildcats. Nicholas Rivera's shorthanded goal, at 13:05 of the middle period, gave MSU Mankato a 4-2 lead and proved to be the winner. Zach Diamantoni scored twice for Northern Michigan.
