Nick Swaney scored at 2 minutes, 17 seconds of overtime to give No. 4 Minnesota Duluth a 4-3 comeback victory over No. 3 Minnesota State Mankato on the first day of Desert Hockey Classic in Glendale, Ariz.

The Bulldogs (11-4-2) took an early 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes on goals by Louie Roehl and Justin Richards 54 seconds apart. About two minutes after Richards' goal, Dallas Gerads scored for the Mavericks (14-3) at 8:39.

Marc Michaelis' 12th goal of the season for MSU Mankato, at 1:20 of the second, tied the score at 2-all.

The Mavericks took the lead on Josh French's wrist shot from the slot at 7:23 of the second. French has five goals in the past six games and six total for the season.

UMD tied the score one Kobe Toth's power-play goal at 13:55 of the third. Peter Krieger had an assist on that goal and on Swaney's winner.

Hunter Shepard had 28 saves for the Bulldogs, Dryden McKay 36 for the Mavericks.

Clarkson beat host Arizona State 3-0 in the second game of the tournament.

No. 7 Ohio State 3, Mercyhurst 1: Matt Miller's first goal of the season early in the second period on a power play put the host Buckeyes ahead 2-0 against the Lakers and proved to be the winner. Mercyhurst cut the lead to 2-1 on Steven Ipri's goal with 58 seconds left in the third period. Mason Jobst answered for OSU with a power-play goal with two seconds left. It was the 11th goal of the season for Jobst, who had one of the assists on Miller's goal.
