The Minnesota Dental Association aims to provide free dental care to 6,000 children at more than 200 clinic locations in Minnesota during its annual Give Kids a Smile event on Feb. 1 and 2. Interested families should call United Way 211 (dial 211). Over the past decade, the association's events have provided free care to more than 50,000 children at a value of $15 million. The association noted that dental disease in kids is more prevalent than pediatric asthma and that 50 percent of first graders have some form of tooth decay.
