Alas, you're 76 years too late. This ran in the March 9 1934 Tribune, and it's a nice little civilized ad for the Auto Show:
PIcture that: people dancing until midnight at the auto show. The "Auditorium" occupied the spot where the Convention Center now sprawls. The Lakers played there; Johnny Cash played there. The same year of the car show, they built an indoor ski jump. It was a big old barn with a bland classical facade, but it had heft and presence. Pity they couldn't incorporate it into the replacement.
"Peacock Alley" was probably named after the hallway in the Waldorf-Astoria where the swells perambulated to show off their diamond stick-pins and ruby-topped walking canes.
