NEW ORLEANS -- Nose tackle Pat Williams said in a text message to Viking Update this month that he would not return to the Vikings in 2011 and then aired some frustration with the franchise. "Just don't trust everybody over there no more," he said in the text. "I feel if I got your back and you don't got my back, trust [is] gone. I play hard all the time, even [when] things [weren't] good all the time. I never quit on them, but I am always happy and blessed and I wish them the best." Williams then made it clear he wasn't talking about his relationship with coach Leslie Frazier.

Frazier said Tuesday that he had talked to Williams about those comments. "We had a good talk and I think we're on the same page on some things," Frazier said. "I love Pat, he's been great for me, especially when I was in the coordinator's role and he's been great for our locker room. But you guys know Pat as well as I do. So … I love Pat." Frazier smiled during the last part of that sentence, knowing full well that Williams is capable of saying almost anything at any time. Williams will be a free agent when the NFL labor situation is resolved, but Frazier said he hasn't given up hope of retaining the veteran. "No, that's not where I'm at and I told him that," he said. "Let's see how things go. He has some things he wants to achieve and we have some ideas about the direction we want to go as well and he knows what those directions are. Let's see how it all plays out."
