Four semifinalists for MCTC president named

Four semifinalists for the presidency of Minneapolis Community and Technical College were named Friday. They are scheduled to visit the campus next week.

The semifinalists are:

Julie Leidig, provost of the Loudoun campus of Northern Virginia Community College since 2010. Previously a vice president at Lone Star College, Montgomery, Texas, and director of instructional programs for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She will visit MCTC Tuesday.

Sharon Pierce, vice president of academic affairs at Howard Community College in Maryland. Previously a director of Howard's nursing education program from 2001 to 2006 and a practicing nurse. She will visit campus on Thursday.

Yves Salomon-Fernandez, interim president of Massachusetts Bay Community College. Previously director of planning and assessment at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She will visit on Wednesday.

Muddassir Siddiqi, provost/chief operating officer at Morton College in Illinois. Previously the executive director for manufacturing technology and skills programs at City Colleges of Chicago. His visit is Friday.

A final choice could be named March 16 by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities board.
