Foul play, arson not suspected in fatal Duluth-area fire

Authorities don't suspect arson or foul play in the death of a Duluth-area woman who was found in a house fire Wednesday morning.

The body of Sandra McClelland, 56, was found in her home on the 4700 block of Rice Lake Road, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said.

The only resident, she was identified by the medical examiner's office and family members. McClelland appeared to have died from smoke inhalation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The fire was reported about 6:40 a.m. and began in the kitchen, the Sheriff's Office said The cause is not known, and the fire is still under investigation, but the Sheriff's Office and the state fire marshal's office have ruled out arson.
