DENVER — Operations are returning to normal at Denver International Airport now that fog there is lifting.

The fog delayed flights by an average of about an hour for most of Monday morning. Airport spokeswoman Laura Coale says 38 planes, most of them small, commuter flights, were diverted to land in Colorado Springs, Durango and Eagle, as well as to Albuquerque, N.M., and Rapid City, S.D.

Fog is unusual in Denver, which boasts of having more than 300 sunny days a year.
