Here's the interesting twist from that flurry of trades the Timberwolves unleashed during Thursday night's NBA draft:

The guy in charge of reviving now former Wolves guard Jonny Flynn's NBA career is none other than Kevin McHale. The Wolves traded Flynn in a swap of players and draft picks to Houston, where he now will be coached by McHale.

One guy -- a former No. 6 overall pick -- was a throw-in after only two seasons with the Wolves. The other guy was fired by the Wolves after nearly 15 years as an executive and coach.

"Houston is a great situation for me with a coach like Kevin McHale, who's going to let us play," Flynn told the Rockets' website Friday after his introductory news conference. "We're going to run pick-and-rolls. We're going to get up and down the floor. And that's Jonny Flynn's game. That's what everyone knows me from: getting out on the break, creating for others. I can't wait to get back to being the real Jonny Flynn.

"This fits me well perfectly. In the triangle offense, you really don't need a point guard to run the offense. You pass the ball and you go to the corner and wait for it to come back to you. You're not in there making plays. ... It's not a system for young guys wanting to get out and run."

Ouch! Wolves President David Kahn reports that Kevin Love had his jaw broken during a May medical procedure that corrected his bite. He has been back on the court for most of June and is one of several players in town this weekend who will get out on the court with Ricky Rubio for the first time. Among the others expected: Wes Johnson, Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph, Martell Webster and Luke Ridnour.

Waiting for Ngombo? Late Friday afternoon, the Wolves announced five of the six trades they made during Thursday night's fast and furious draft after they finally cleared through the NBA office. The one they didn't announce was a deal with Portland that brought them the 57th pick, which the Trail Blazers used to take forward Targuy Ngombo from the Congo for the Wolves.

The team said the trade was pending while Portland waited for a trade it made earlier with Dallas to be finalized. But it appears there's an issue with Ngombo's age. The FIBA website lists his birth year as 1984 rather than 1989. That, if true, would make him 26 and ineligible for the draft. The Wolves are waiting for a faxed copy of his passport to show he's 21.

Etc. Beasley is working out regularly in Los Angeles with former NBA guard Norm Nixon. Kahn said Nixon also is helping mentor Beasley off the court as well.
