Have you heard of Flo TV? No? Too late. The device was built by Qualcomm, and it's a portable TV you could watch anywhere - if you'd paid the $15 monthly fee. Perhaps they were expecting people in 2009 to say "sure, I pay for cell phone, and sure, I pay for cable. But if only there was a way to combine the two into one additional charge that duplicates what I get now and provides less functionality!" Oddly, few did:

That may be the only asset here. It'll be interesting to see who snaps it up; someone might use it to stream content to phones and tablets for free, and make their money through ads. You will not be able to turn them off; you'll have to sit through the ad before you watch the free content. This will infuriate some people, since we've gone from "everything must be free" to "everything must be free and contain no visible means of support for the content producers." The next step on the internet will be demanding that the content producers pay money to the people who watch the shows.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
