Five men arrested in the Twin Cities this year on terrorism charges pleaded not guilty in a packed federal courtroom in Minneapolis Wednesday afternoon.

Adnan Abdihamid Farah, 19, Zacharia Yusuf Abdurahman, 19, Hanad Mustafe Musse, 19, and Guled Ali Omar, 20 were all arrested and charged in April, along with two of their friends who had traveled to San Diego and were arrested there. Hamza Ahmed, 20, who was charged in February, also pleaded not guilty on Wednesday; his case has since been consolidated with the others.

The men are charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organization. According to charges, they were planning to travel abroad and join Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL.
