DULUTH, Minn. — The first of a-half dozen ships has arrived in the Twin Ports for the winter layup.

The ice-covered American Integrity pulled into the Port of Duluth-Superior Wednesday. The Duluth Seaway Port Authority expects the rest of the ships to arrive for the winter next week.

Authority spokeswoman Adele Yorde says crews will do engine and electrical work on ships and make repairs to get the vessels ready for the 2015 season which begins March 25.

WDIO-TV (http://bit.ly/1xKpeo5 ) says the shipping season ends in a week when the Soo Locks close.
