MANKATO -- Earlier Thursday we got a tip from a reader that data from the flight aware website showed a private plane had traveled from Hattiesburg, Miss., to Pensacola, Fla.

Connecting the dots that meant that Brett Favre likely had gone to his appointment with Dr. James Andrews in Florida. NFL Network confirmed this afternoon that Favre indeed had gone to Florida -- he's now back home in Mississippi -- on the plane of agent Bus Cook.

Scott Hanson of NFL Network tweets, however, that it's "believed [Favre] went to see Dr. Andrews." NFL sources have confirmed that Favre did indeed see Andrews on Thursday.

This, of course, comes as no surprise given that Favre said last week he was scheduled to see the doctor to have his surgically repaired left ankle examined. Favre continually has said the ankle has not responded as he hoped it would after he had the procedure performed in late May. Andrews' office is located in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

Favre has yet to tell the Vikings whether he will play this season, although many believe he will despite the fact he tried to tell the team last week that he was done. Today marks the Vikings' final practices in Mankato and no one ever expected Favre to show up for these workouts.

However, a decision is expected by about the middle of August. The Vikings hope is Favre returns to play in the third preseason game. Now that he has almost certainly visited Andrews, Favre might simply have to make a decision on whether he can play through the pain he's experiencing.
