A 71-year-old man from Longville, Minn., died late Tuesday in a one-car crash in Cass County, authorities said Wednesday.

The man, who was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer with one passenger, died just before 11 p.m. when the vehicle rolled over on 12th Avenue NE. in Kego Township, on the edge of Longville, according to a news release from Sheriff Tom Burch. A passenger, a 28-year-old Longville man, suffered minor injuries.

Also Wednesday, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office released the name of a man fatally injured Monday in Scott County's New Market Township. Carl Pommerening Jr., 43, of Montgomery, was injured in the crash just after 5 a.m. on Texas Avenue, just north of 230th Street E. He died late Monday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

On Tuesday, a 61-year-old Elk River man was killed in a rollover crash of his pickup truck on the icy southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota.

James A. Weinhold was headed south on the freeway in Steele County about 5:40 a.m. when his truck hit a patch of ice and veered into a nearby ditch and rolled. He was wearing his seat belt but died at the scene.
