Robochic: A Robot Fashion Show

This production by feminist multimedia theatrical company Swearing Jack Productions follows last year's Dead Sexy zombie fashion show, which was unprecedented in the Twin Cities for its combination of kitschy theatrics and fashion. Eleven local, mostly unknown designers will showcase their takes on "avant-garde robot fashion" in a blending of machine and textile. Found objects and recycled computers will make their way onto live "cyborg" models. While the idea of robot fashion may seem ridiculous, in fact robot futurism has been a trend in recent years for major designers, including Balenciaga.

Sound Unseen Rock N' Bowl

If you've ever hoped for the chance to hang with your favorite local band -- or waste that local band you hate -- your moment has arrived. The annual Rock N' Bowl has returned to kick off next weekend's Sound Unseen music and film festival. Here's how it works: You get together your team of four, reserve your spot at info@soundunseen.com, and play four frames against each band in a rotating scheme. This year's bands are Bella Koshka, So It Goes, Military Special, the Guystorm, White Light Riot, Weaver at the Loom, Zebulon Pike and Gospel Gossip. Infamous former KFAI DJ John Kass will spin and sell records, and there will be giveaways including Sound Unseen festival passes. (7-10 p.m. Monday 10/20. $5 to bowl, free to attend. All ages.)

Yigal Azrouël fashion show

Everyone knows that Minneapolis isn't exactly New York when it comes to fashion, but with this presentation of Yigal Azrouël's Spring 2009 line, we're getting closer. The New York-based French-Morrocan designer, who launched his first collection 10 years ago, is still considered an emerging designer despite being well received by the international fashion set. Azrouël's spring line is based on the idea of wash-and-wear, with his cotton, leather and denim pieces exhibiting a relaxed, broken-in feeling through special washing and finishing processes. The show, held at the unconventional space of the Fallon advertising agency, will include swag bags for the first 100 guests. It kicks off Grethen House's trunk show for the brand next Thursday and Friday. (5-8 p.m., Wed. Free with RSVP at rsvp@grethenhouse.com. Fallon, 901 Marquette Av. S., 24th floor, Mpls. )
