Here's what's happening this weekend, events-wise (and free-sample-wise), at Twin Cities farmers markets. For a map of metro-area markets, go here.

Saturday: At the Mill City Farmers Market's Oktoberfest celebration, the cooking demo is, naturally, all about sausage-making, with a man who's family name is synonymous with the art of sausage-making: Nick Kramarczuk. 10 a.m. (Also, don't forget your I.D., as Finnegan's and Lift Bridge breweries will be offering free samples, while supplies last.

Saturday: Get ready for the sixth-annual Native American Day Celebration at the Midtown Farmers Market. Events include a health and resource fair, live music, dancing (10 a.m.) and a lunch by Famous Dave's (noon).

Saturday: Tune into "Fresh & Local" (AM 950) as hosts Susan Berkson and Bonnie Dean broadcast live from the Minneapolis Farmers Market . On the show: Taste Editor Lee Svitak Dean and Mary Mcguire Lerman of the Minnesota State Horticultural Society, talking Minnesota cheese and apple pairings and joined by market vendors Daniel Lemke (Morning Star) and Dick Brown (Plum Crazy Orchard). 8 a.m.

Saturday: Also at the Minneapolis Farmers Market, Marty Bergland of the state orticultural society will demonstrate preserving methods for zucchini, green tomatoes and apples. 10:30 a.m.
