JUNETEENTH

R&B singers Ginger Patterson and Kovan Baldwin headline this year's Juneteenth festival. The event commemorates the days in mid-June 1865 when black Union troops spread the word to slaves in Texas that they were free. Other entertainers from musicians to dancers also will take the stage. Vendors will have items for sale, and community organizations will have information on a range of topics. (10 a.m. Sat. North Mississippi Regional Park, 4900 N. Mississippi Court, Mpls. www.juneteenth minnesota.org.)
