Family members have identified a young man who drowned on the Wisconsin side of the St. Croix River.
A witness alerted police about 7 a.m. Saturday to calls for help coming from the river near Lions Park in St. Croix Falls, authorities said.
Late that morning, emergency responders recovered the body of a 20-year-old man from St. Croix Falls in water 20 to 30 feet deep and roughly 8 feet from shore, police said.
"At this time, the investigation shows this incident to be an accidental drowning," a statement from police read.
Josh W. Hinckley was identified by his mother as the drowning victim.
