Excellent deal on Toro Power Shovel Target has the Toro electric shovel on clearance for $70, as shown in last Sunday's circular. Regularly $100, the electric shovel works well for snowfalls of 6 inches or less. I purchased one when it was on sale for $80 and have used it several times. It's electric and needs a cord (sold separately), so it's not ideal for long distances, but it works especially well for clearing off a deck. It's small and lightweight, so it can be stored inside, which also makes it a good choice for anyone who is disabled or injured. One feature I don't like is that the snow can only be blown forward. Unlike most snow blowers, the Toro's chute direction cannot be changed. I recommend calling a store or using the "find it at a Target store" feature at Target.com. When calling, ask for the seasonal department and use DPCI# 092-11-0060 for a stock check. Online, type "Toro electric shovel" in the search. Target also has manual shovels on clearance. All are in limited quantities.

'Oh Baby' changes Wayzata store to outlet Oh Baby on the Lake has been renamed the Oh Baby Outlet (743 E. Lake St., Wayzata, 952-404-0170, www.ohbabystyle.com). The children's outlet store will feature special purchase closeouts, discontinued clothing (newborn to size 12), accessories, bedding, floor sample furniture and lighting at 50 to 90 percent off retail prices. Currently, the store has no special purchase items, but within a couple of months, most of the merchandise will be special purchase, said co-owner Tom Lauer. Fans of the Galleria store Que Sera, which Lauer also owns, will see a few pieces at the outlet, such as glider rockers, wall art and bookshelves.

Local source for inexpensive HDMI cables Deal spotter Steve from Mahtomedi found a local online resource for inexpensive HDMI and other audio and video accessories, My Cable Mart (7887 Fuller Rd., Suite 105, Eden Prairie, 952-486-8736, www.mycablemart.com). A 6-foot, gold-plated HDMI cable is only $6.75 when many retailers are selling them for $30 to $130. "Sound Advice" columnist Don Lindich said to walk away if a big-box electronics salesperson tries to sell you expensive cable sold only by them. No retailer has an "exclusive" on cables. My Cable Mart does not have a storefront, but you can pick up phone or online orders at the Eden Prairie location or have them shipped out. The Mart carries more than 1,200 home theater audio and video accessories, including HDMI, optical and component cables. If you're not sure which type of cable you need, call or ask online.
