EWTN Global Catholic Network, founded by Mother Angelica in Alabama nearly 30 years ago, is acquiring the National Catholic Register.
The Associated Press reports the transaction announced Wednesday did not involve any cash. Instead, the broadcasting operation said it will take over the 83-year-old newspaper's operating expenses and future subscriptions.
