SATURDAY-SUNDAY

Flip Phone: Beyoncé Brunch

The LGBT dance party Flip Phone is morphing into a growing series of social events such as Queer Bomb, in which members of the LGBT community converge at a straight bar. Lately, Chad Kampe's pop music-loving group has set its sights on the social activity de rigueur: brunch. Following January's Dolly Parton BBQ Brunch, they're celebrating patron saint Beyoncé over two weekends at Mattie's on Main, with a Beyoncé-inspired brunch menu (entrees $15), bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys ($12.95), and drag performances to Bey tunes, followed by drink specials until 6 p.m. (Seatings from 10-10:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m. Sat. & Sun., plus May 2-3. Free. Mattie's on Main, 43 SE. Main St., Mpls. Call 612-886-2121 for reservations.) Jahna Peloquin

SATURDAY

StoryFest

Hot on the heels of last weekend's Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Conference, the Twin Cities' best storytellers get their chance in the spotlight with StoryFest. The all-day event at the City of Lakes Waldorf School includes workshops from Loren Niemi and Amy Salloway, as well as story hours geared toward various genres: Moth-style true stories, folk tales for adults, and "stories we wouldn't want our mothers to hear." The event culminates with an evening show at the Black Forest Inn, presented by Cheap Theatre and curator/host Erica Christ, featuring stories surrounding the theme "The Last Word." (10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sat. City of Lakes Waldorf School, 2344 Nicollet Av. S., Mpls. $5-$25. Evening program: 7:30 p.m. Sat. Black Forest Inn, 1 E. 26th St., Mpls. $10. www.storyartsmn.org.) J.P.
