A 61-year-old Elk River man was killed in a rollover crash of his pickup truck Tuesday morning on the icy southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota.
James A. Weinhold was headed south on the freeway in Steele County about 5:40 a.m. when his truck hit a patch of ice and veered into a nearby ditch and rolled. He was wearing his seat belt but died at the scene.
No alcohol was detected in his system, according to the State Patrol.
Weinhold was a car salesman at Cornerstone Ford in Elk River and, in his free time, an avid hunter and fisherman.
