The "elite" layer of the Big Ten moved up in today's AP rankings while those teams in the "murky middle" dropped.
Ohio State and Michigan State each moved up one spot, while Wisconsin – which re-entered the poll last week – started to make its climb, moving up five spots from No.25 to No. 19.
Illinois, after losing three straight – the last of which to Minnesota – got just one vote, and no other Big Ten teams got any votes .
