A memorial service for the late Eleanor Mondale Poling will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Minneapolis.

Poling died early Saturday morning after a battle with brain cancer. She had been in hospice care for more than a month. Friends speculated that setting the service two weeks from now will give more friends and family from around the world a chance to attend.

Plans for the memorial weren't disclosed, but one can assume the ceremony will be populated by numerous politicians who have worked with her father, former Vice President Walter Mondale. Also, expect a lot of music. She was married to Chan Poling, a founding member of local rock group the Suburbs. She told friends that she wanted Poling to perform at the event.
