Eleanor Mondale, the daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale, said Monday that a new form of chemotherapy appears to be working, but she knows that nothing is guaranteed.
A brain tumor has returned three times since June 2005, when she was first diagnosed.
"I try to tell myself it's almost over, but it's been five years," she said.
"It's hard for me to say that I've licked this thing." Mondale said she's been taking a pill every six weeks for the past three months that appears to be shrinking the tumor.
Despite the optimistic news, Mondale said she doesn't expect to be returning to her gig at WCCO radio.
"I'm too tired all the time," she said.
