This week: Early Reminders why we love this game

First touch, first TD. Redshirt freshman JD Spielman wasted no time making an impact in his Nebraska debut. The first time he touched the ball, the former Eden Prairie standout returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in the Huskers' 43-36 victory over Arkansas State.

A week after college football gave us No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 3 Florida State, we now have No. 5 Oklahoma at No. 2 Ohio State on Saturday. Keep 'em coming. These early intersectional showdowns breathe energy into the sport.

Uh, Texas A&M, you might want to wait until the hay is in the barn before strutting on the sideline with a drum major's baton. Karma's got a habit of finding people.

Sure, Tennessee edged Georgia Tech 42-41 in double overtime. But it was refreshingly nostalgic to see the Yellow Jackets rush for 535 yards in their triple-option attack.

If you like sportsmanship, you had to love seeing USC's Jake Olson, who lost both eyes to retinal cancer, snap on the PAT on the final touchdown against Western Michigan.
