Bob Dylan in China/ Associated Press

Bob Dylan performed his first-ever concert in China with a government-approved set list. That meant no protest songs like "Blowin' in the Wind" and "Masters of War" at yesterday's show at the Worker's Gymnasium in Beijing in front of about 5,000 people. (He did encore with "Blowin' in the Wind" three nights earlier in Taiwan but, then, in 2010 he sang it at only about six out of his 100 shows, according to boblinks.com.)

A blogger on boblinks.com described the crowd as mostly Chinese people (as opposed to ex-pats that she'd expected to see) with a police officer every 5 meters inside the venue..

We're guessing in China that, per usual, Dylan didn't say anything to the crowd. Here is what he played:

Gonna Change My Way of Thinking/ It's All Over Now, Baby Blue/ Beyond Here Lies Nothin'/ Tangled Up in Blue/ Honest With Me/ Simple Twist of Fate/ Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum/ Love Sick/Rollin' and Tumblin'/A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall/ Highway 61 Revisited/ Spirit on the Water/Thunder on the Mountain/ Ballad of a Thin Man/ Like a Rolling Stone/ All Along the Watchtower/Forever Young
