Duluth pickup driver fatally hits man in Superior, Wis., crosswalk

A Duluth pickup truck driver ran over and killed a man crossing the street before sunrise in bordering Superior, Wis., authorities said.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday at N. 12th Street and Tower Avenue, according to police.

The victim was identified as Kenneth N. Meinke Jr., 59, of Superior.

According to police:

Meinke was in the crosswalk as he headed west across Tower Avenue, police said.

The pickup, with a plow on front and driven by Steven Kaski, 38, of Duluth, was heading south on 12th when it hit Meinke. Kaski was cooperative with authorities, police said.

Meinke worked for 25 years with the nonprofit Superior Vocations Center, according to his online obituary.
