DULUTH, Minn. — A Duluth motel has been destroyed by an intense fire, and two people were injured in the blaze.

Fire officials responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of an explosion and fire at the Lake Breeze Motel. Firefighters found the main two-story building almost completely engulfed in flames, with fire threatening nearby structures.

All occupants were evacuated from the building. Two people were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

Fire crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures. They spent five hours on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No property-damage estimate was immediately available, but the Duluth Fire Department says the structure is considered a total loss.
