This morning I noticed that we were running very low on French Roast. - this is just not acceptable.

I was out and about with the kids this afternoon and remembered. Coffee...must...get....coffee for the morning.

The kids were fussy in the back seat. The thought of dealing with the whole in and out of car seats and getting them through the store to buy just one thing and get them back into car seats was just not appealing to me.

Aha! - there was my answer on the corner - a Caribou with the magic words DRIVE THRU. I pulled up in line - asked for my ground coffee. I knew it would be more than I usually spend - but at that moment the convenience was worth it.

The total came to $11.11.

(Hey I thought 11.11 cool ! I always see 11:11 on the clock, etc.... so I'm fond of it - it's my lucky number)

Well it turned out to be true.

When I pulled up to the window the cashier literally said "It's your lucky day! The car ahead of you paid for your order."

"Seriously?" I asked, my mouth agape, "are you kidding me?"

I'm sure they weren't expecting my order to be more than a cup of coffee

"No I'm not kidding. "she smiled. " It's paid for."

"Really? And they were okay with the price?"

"Yep, he was totally fine with it and told me to tell you 'Consider it a random act of kindness - just because!' "

So - what am I supposed to do with this? I know, of course it's my turn now.

Well, I can't buy every Cribsheeter a cup of coffee.

But here is something else that made me smile today and I can pass along this awareness opportunity for your favorite local charity...

The Star Tribune just launched a new contest called The Full Page Project.

The Star Tribune will donate a full page of advertising space to be used by the local non-profit organization selected by our readers in an online poll. The ad will run in a Sunday edition, seen by more than a million readers. We call it the Full Page Project. We think the most beautiful thing a newspaper can make is a difference.

Click THE FULL PAGE PROJECT for complete details.

Pretty cool huh?

Kindness.... pass it on!

And - I will be picking up the tab for the car behind me on my next drive-thru adventure.
