Dairy Queen is bringing back its "Free Cone Day" on March 15.

Participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill outlets across the country will serve free small vanilla soft-serve cones, with a limit of one per customer while supplies last. The company gave away 1,330 cones on average per store last year.

The giveaway is linked to Dairy Queen's charitable efforts. Last year on Free Cone Day, the company raised $140,000 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises money for kids treated at 170 children's hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.

Edina-based Dairy Queen is owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway company.
