Trying to check out info on a state website, call the Legislature or receive an email from a state office? That may have been tough Saturday morning.

The state experienced a massive outage that made state websites as well as some phones and email systems inoperable. The outage had started by 9:30 a.m. or earlier and continued past 11:00 a.m. By 11:30 a.m.  some state sites, previously inaccessible, started coming back online.

It was not clear what is causing the problem but state officials were working to fix it.

On Twitter, Carolyn Parnell, Chief Information Officer for the state, said Saturday morning, "We're on it."

The outage came as lawmakers were due to meet in special weekend sessions Saturday afternoon that may deal with the quest for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium and other major issues.

Saturday was not the first major glitch in state communication systems. In January, the state's phones went down for about three hours.

Update: The state's Office of Enterprise Technology announced on Twitter that all House systems, which still didn't work well into the afternoon, had been fixed by 3:15 p.m.
