The shooting that left a central Minnesota gunman dead from a self-inflicted wound and his "significant other" hospitalized was characterized Monday by authorities as a domestic incident.

Eric S. Grewe, 39, of Bertha, killed himself with a shotgun blast Friday evening at his victim's home in the 300 block of 2nd St. NW. in Bertha, said Todd County Sheriff Pete Mikkelson.

Grewe had just shot Angela R. Templin, 31, also of Bertha. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, the Mikkelson added. Templin was in serious condition Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.

"This was a domestic-type situation," the sheriff said.

Grewe's criminal history in Minnesota included convictions for assault, property damage and drunken driving.
