Judge Edward J. Cleary, left, was sworn in as chief judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals on Monday by outgoing Chief Judge Matthew E. Johnson, right, during a ceremony at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul. Cleary is a 1970 graduate of the high school. Holding the Bible is Cleary's wife, Dana Moorhead Cleary. Gov. Mark Dayton elevated Cleary to the post in September. Cleary is the seventh person to serve as the court's chief judge. He has been a judge since 2002, when he was on the Ramsey County District Court bench. He was named to the Court of Appeals in 2011.
