1 Stand-up paddleboard lessons

2 Starlight Starbright!

3 Bird-watching treks

Rapids Lake Education and Visitor Center, Aug. 23, 7-10 a.m.; Bloomington Ferry Unit, Aug. 24, 7-10 a.m.

Explore different sections of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge during these early morning birding tours. Search the Rapids Lake Unit (in Carver) for prairie species including meadowlarks, flycatchers and sparrows. Search the Bloomington Ferry Unit for raptors and warblers. Bring binoculars. 4 Monarch tagging

Meet at the parks' nature centers for family-friendly lessons on monarchs. Learn about the butterfly's life cycle and migration patterns. 5 St. Croix River interpretive paddle
