The Gophers won't have junior guard Devoe Joseph against Indiana Tuesday and he could be out longterm, Tubby Smith said Monday.

"Devoe wasn't at practice for the last couple of days but that's the only issues that we've had so far," Smith said. "He's working on some things he's got to work on ... some of everything. ... It could be [longterm]."

Multiple sources told the Star Tribune that Joseph has told the team that he plans to transfer. Smith and Joseph were expected to meet Monday to discuss the latter's status with the program. Joseph, according to a source close to the team, missed a recent practice.

Joseph missed the team's first six games for violating team rules. Since his return, he's averaged 11.3 points per game.

Joseph, Canada's national prep player of the year during his senior year of high school, blossomed during a performance in last season's Big Ten tournament. He earned all-Big Ten tourney honors after leading the Gophers to the title game.
