The deal's details

The NFL's new collective bargaining agreement …

• Brings on a 17-game regular season, but not before 2021.

• Raises players' pay beyond the 47% of league revenue given to them now. The new percentage depends on the length of the season.

• Shrinks the preseason, initially from four games to three, and provides more time off during training camps.

• Upgrades pensions, adding groups of previous players not included in past agreements.

• Grows rosters from 53 to 55 and allows larger practice squads and fewer limits on movement of players from roster to practice squad.

• Narrows the testing period for marijuana use and lessens the discipline.
