2016 First-year player draft

When: Thursday through Saturday

Broadcast: Thursday on MLB Network, Thursday through Saturday streaming on MLB.com.

Thursday: Rounds 1-2 plus competitive balance rounds. Starts at 6 p.m.

Friday: Rounds 3-10. Starts at noon

Saturday: Rounds 11-40. Starts at 11 a.m.

Twins outlook: The Twins have the 15th overall pack in the draft. They also have two extra picks, Nos. 73 and 74, after the second round. One is compensation for failing to sign righthander Kyle Cody last year. The other is from the competitive balance draft, which awards picks to teams that are in the bottom 10 in market size or revenue pool.

No. 1 overall: Philadelphia has the pick, but there's a wide range of opinion on who they'll take. The candidates: Southern California prep outfielders Mickey Moniak and Blake Rutherford, collegiate outfielders Kyle Lewis (Mercer) and Corey Ray (Louisville); prep lefty Jason Groome of New Jersey; and college lefty A.J. Puk of Florida.
