If the fans at Xcel Energy Center weren't familiar with Denver's school song before Saturday's NCAA West Regional, they certainly were by the game's end. The second-seeded Pioneers crushed No. 3 seed Boston University 7-2, moving on to Sunday's regional final against Ferris State.

Denver (24-9-6) took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Elk River native Blake Hillman and Dylan Gambrell. Will Butcher, Matt Marcinew and Evan Janssen scored in the second period, and goaltender Tanner Jaillet did not allow a goal until BU's Danny O'Regan scored at 12 minutes, 45 seconds of the third period.

Jaillet finished with 19 saves as Denver outshot BU 25-21. The Terriers (21-13-5) pulled goalie Sean Maguire early in the second period after he allowed four goals on 13 shots. Sophomore Connor LaCouvee stopped nine of 12 shots.
