Delta Air Lines is now part of the new Minnesota Twins stadium.

The airline announced Tuesday that it has signed on for a multiyear, multimillion-dollar partnership with the team that includes signs throughout the outdoor stadium and a club-level space called the Delta Sky360 Legends Club. The deal also gives Delta the designation as the official airline of the Twins.

"This is a monumental partnership for us," said Twins President Dave St. Peter. "We appreciate their desire to make a statement in Minnesota and a commitment to this area."

Bill Lentsch, Delta's senior vice president of operations in Minnesota, declined to release details on Delta's financial commitment but called it a "significant investment" in the community, the Twins and Delta employees.

"The sum total is that 2010 is going to be a pretty substantial year for us," he said. "It's our way of saying we are going to remain here and be stronger than ever."

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is a hub for Atlanta-based Delta, which acquired Northwest Airlines in a $2.6 billion deal. St. Peter said the Twins had an on-again, off-again relationship with Northwest that faded away, partly because of challenges facing the airline industry.

Northwest's former headquarters in Eagan is for sale. Delta opened its "Delta North" headquarters near the airport two months ago.

The Twins play their regular season home opener against Boston April 12.
