Just as important as picking out a Halloween costume is planning where to drink. Since even the skimpiest of slutty nurse costumes is spendy enough, why not save some money on alcohol? We found some fright-night bashes to help temper your tab.
Boos Crawl and Costume Contest
7 p.m. Sat. • Lowertown St. Paul • www.lowertowned.com
Boos Crawl takes over Lowertown for the fifth straight year. The $20 ticket includes a free drink at each of eight participating bars and restaurants (do the math). We're all about bang for your buck, but heed the threat of a Halloween hangover.
Ground Zero
9 p.m. Sat. • 15 NE. 4th St., Mpls. • 612-378-5115
The bondage bar hosts its Halloween Masquerade Ball ($10) on Saturday. Arrive early to enjoy two-for-ones from 9-10 p.m. Will Ground Zero's dominatrixes target non-costumed partygoers? We wouldn't risk it.
Psycho Suzi's
7 p.m. Wed. • 1900 NE. Marshall St., Mpls. • 612-788-9069 • www.psychosuzis.com
It's like New Year's Eve with an all-you-can-consume entry fee (reduced to $30-$45) that gets you unlimited cocktails, beer, wine, bubbly and all-you-can-drink "sacrificial blood." Suzi dubs it the "Old Fashioned & Slightly Psychotic Halloween Costume Party."
Clubhouse Jager
8 p.m. Wed. • 923 Washington Av. N., Mpls. • 612-332-2686 • www.clubjager.com
The North Loop dance pub goes back to the 1920s with a "speakeasy" celebration. Tickets are $8-$10 and include a complimentary drink, Prohibition-themed drink specials. Dressing flapper and old-school dapper is strongly encouraged, so don't be that bro in a keg costume.
