DFL Gov. Mark Dayton will spend Thursday, his fourth day on the job, talking to the business leaders who backed his opponents.

He has a speech planned at noon to the directors of the Minnesota Business Partnership and an evening speech at the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. The business partnership lunch is closed to the press but the chamber dinner is open.

The business partnership and the chamber joined forces during the campaign to form MN Forward, which backed Republican Tom Emmer and gathered contributions from businesses.

"Mark Dayton's plan. It's enough to make you cry....Dayton wants to spend money like the out of control politicians in Washington," one MN Forward backed ad said. "Minnesota can't afford Mark Dayton."

Since he won the race, Dayton has reached out to business leaders and they, too, have extended a hand of welcome to him. Thursday, the former opponents will break bread together.
