After handling the New York Times' Oscars coverage for four years, media columnist (and former editor of the Twin Cities Reader) David Carr is handing the Carpetbagger blog to culture reporter Melena Ryzik. Carr brought a light, who-takes-this-seriously? touch to interviews, general coverage and video updates about Hollywood's awards antics. His report from last year's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah ( www.youtube.com/watch ) included snowboard lessons from Woody Harrelson and 30-second movie pitches collected from random people on the street. Ryzik, who covers cultural life in New York, will be the blog's new lead writer when it relaunches Dec. 1. http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
