When writing about epic fantasy sagas with a Western-style gunslinger at the center, be sure you use "Godfather" cliches. They just fit. Just ask The Wrap:

Why? Probably because it cost too much. Ron Howard was supposed to direct - a headscratcher given the nature of the series; "Stand by Me" this isn't - but Opie's nothing if not competent. King fans are no doubt crestfallen, but they should look at the bright side: now they can't ruin it.

By the way, if there's some King-related reason for saying the movie "Sleeps with the fishes," because this is something the Gunslinger says, or there's a subplot about slumbering marine life, then I take back the criticism of the opening line. But i don't even think that's Variety-style Hollywood lingo. They'd say "Studio Nix King "Sling" pix, Howard ankles for new project,:" or something like that.
